“The Catch” Season 2, episode 9 will feature a series of twists in the lives of Alice Vaughn (Mireille Enos) and Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause).

The two have been working together for the past couple of weeks, and Alice agreed to help Margot find out who wanted to kill her. It was later on revealed that Margot’s biological daughter, Tessa (Philippa Coulthard), wanted her dead. To make things worse, Alice also discovers that Tessa is Margot’s daughter with her fiancé, Ben.

Alice will attempt to confront Margot about the things she’s still keeping from her, but will be unsuccessful. Alice gets distracted when her ex-boyfriend, Ethan (Warren Christie), tells her that he’s still in love with her. Alice seems to also have feelings for Ethan since the two of them did not have proper closure before, but she’s also dedicated to making her relationship with Ben work.

What Alice will soon realize is that Ben is plotting something against Ethan. He doesn’t trust him, especially after Ethan threatened to expose Ben’s dirt to Alice. It is unclear how Ethan knows Ben, but the latter doesn’t want to take any risks. Ben seeks the help of his partner, Rhys (John Simm), but before they could take down Ethan, someone who also seems to be targeting him could do it first.

In the promo released by ABC for episode 9, Margot’s ex-girlfriend comes face-to-face with Alice, Ben and Rhys. She points a gun at an unseen character and shoots him. Alice looks shocked, and it is possible that Margot’s ex-girlfriend got rid of Ethan right before Alice’s and Ben’s eyes.

Prior to this, a sneak peek from the network also teases Ben reaching out to Justine (Gina Torres) about arresting Ethan. When Justine asks why she has to arrest Alice’s ex-boyfriend, Ben denies that he’s jealous of him. Justine goes on to enumerate all of Ethan’s achievements in an attempt to make Ben admit that he’s jealous of him. However, Ben stresses that he only wants to make sure that Alice will be safe if and when she decides to accept Ethan’s offer to work together. Justine is still not on board with Ben’s plans and tells him that it is a bad idea. Ben explains that it’s simply a favor after he agreed to go undercover to save Justine’s husband.

Unfortunately, Justine still doesn’t want to rest her case. She reminds Ben that Ethan is a normal citizen, but Ben continues to argue that Ethan also happens to be a multi-billionaire. In the end, Justine agrees to help Ben by swinging by the white collar division of her office. By the looks of it, Alice will also find out what Ben is plotting against Ethan, and it’s possible that she will get pissed at Ben because of it.

The Catch” Season 2, episode 9 will air on ABC on May 4 at 10 p.m. EST.
