“The Catch” Season 2 saw an improvement in terms of its ratings on Thursday night.

According to TV Line, “The Catch” Season 2, episode 8, titled “The Knock-Off,” garnered a total of 3.1 million viewers and had a 0.7 rating. However, the ratings for “The Catch” Season 2 are still nothing compared to Shonda Rhimes’ two other shows that also air on Thursday nights. Last week’s episode of “Scandal” raked in a total of 5.3 million viewers and a 1.4 million rating. “Grey’s Anatomy” earned 6.9 million viewers or a 1.7 rating. The Ellen Pompeo-starrer, however, suffered a decline, dipping to its smallest audience in two years.

Unfortunately, the ratings for “The Catch” doesn’t guarantee a Season 3 renewal. Both “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” have already been renewed for another season.

Read: Will Alice, Ben end their relationship because of Ethan in “The Catch”?

In “The Knock-Off,” Alice Vaughn (Mireille Enos) came face-to-face with her ex-boyfriend Ethan’s (Warren Christie) fiancée, Gretchen. To her surprise, she looks exactly like her. She’s a petite redhead who is extremely smart and manipulative. After their first meeting, Alice already started suspected that Ethan chose to be with Gretchen because he’s still not over her. This is the very reason why Ethan felt the need to be with someone who looks exactly like Alice.

Gretchen seeks Alice’s help because the former needs to hire a group of private investigators who will vet a potential investor for the charity and fashion startup that she wants to build. Alice agrees to help Gretchen, but their working relationship immediately turns sour when the former tells the latter the truth about the investor. Gretchen becomes upset over the fact that the investor is not so reliable after all, and Alice isn’t very happy to have been the bearer of bad news either. She then decides to help Gretchen by giving her a list of other investors she could approach.

Later that day, Alice calls Gretchen to schedule an appointment with a possible investor. But the latter tells the former that Ethan already pitched in $2.5 million from his own money to help her out. This leads Alice into thinking that Gretchen may have already been aware of the fact that the former investor is unreliable so she hired them to uncover this detail. Alice reaches out to Ethan to share her suspicion, but he does not think that Gretchen was playing him. Gretchen also confronts Alice and tells her that she’s not after her fiancé’s money.

But with the help of Tessa (Philippa Coulthard) and her Googling skills, she finds out more information about Gretchen. Not only are her fashion designs knock-offs, but she also happens to be married to the investor she’s been eyeing. Alice’s suspicions are proven to be right later. She informs Ethan, and the latter finally believes her. He even offers a huge retainer fee so that his and Alice’s companies could work together on multiple projects in the future. Alice’s fiancé, Ben (Peter Krause), is not very happy with the partnership because this means Alice and Ethan will be spending more time together.

“The Catch” Season 2 airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
