Chelsea are to begin negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle over a proposed £20 million transfer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The report states that representatives of the Germany international were at Wembley for Chelsea’s FA Cup semifinal defeat to Manchester City on Sunday and personal terms will be discussed imminently.

Chelsea reportedly had a bid for Schurrle rejected last summer with Leverkusen unwilling to sell without being able to bring in a replacement. The interest, though, appears to have remained and Chelsea could finally get their man come the end of the season.

Schurrle has mainly been deployed for both club and country in a left-sided forward role, however, he has also been used through the middle as both a main and support striker.

Chelsea are still likely to be seeking a center forward, however. Demba Ba and Fernando Torres are the squad’s only established forwards, with Torres repeatedly been linked with a summer departure after struggling to ever justify his £50 million fee.

Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao has long been seen as the leading target for the Blues, although recent speculation has raised doubts about his potential move to Stamford Bridge. A report in Spanish publication Marca last week claimed that Manchester United were now front runners for the prolific Colombian’s signature.

When asked about the claims this weekend, though, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson dismissed them out of hand.

Chelsea are also said to be eying up young Dinamo Zagreb striker Andrej Kramaric. Currently on-loan at Dinamo’s farm club Lokomotiva, the 21-year-old has represented Croatia at every youth level up to Under 21. Sky Sports reports that he has been linked to CSKA Moscow as well as several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Fulham.

And Kramaric’s agent has said that his client is the subject of much interest.

"I can't hide it -- we have a lot of offers for Andrej,” Amir Ruznic said, according to Sky Sports. “Many well-known European clubs wants him and he really wouldn't mind if he would move to Russia.

"The Russian league has developed a lot in recent years and is right now one of the best in Europe. But it is too early to talk about all this.

"Andrej is only thinking about how to score many goals as he can until the end of the season. Then we will see what will happen."

Meanwhile, a starlet currently at Chelsea, Kevin de Bruyne, is again being linked with a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge. The Belgium international has yet to appear for Chelsea since signing for the club in January last year and has spent this season on loan at Werder Bremen.

And according to TalkSport, citing reports in Germany, De Bruyne could be set to stay in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund having tabled a £14.5 million offer. Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked to the 21-year-old who has scored six goals and contributed nine assists for Bremen this season.
