Reports have emerged stating Italian giants Juventus are ready to resume their pursuit of Brazilian defender Alex from Chelsea.

Chelsea themselves are looking to sell the player, as manager Andre Villas-Boas looks to revamp a defence in shambles. The Blues had the best defensive record in top flight last season; this year couldn't have been more contrasting.

They have already conceded 15 goals, in 11 games, five of which came at home against Arsenal. AVB's side have only managed two clean sheets this season, both of which, ironically, came when Alex started.

Chelsea are expected to make a move for Bolton defender Gary Cahill, in the January transfer window. But to include him in the squad, they'll have to free-up a slot, which will come with Alex's departure to Juventus, according to the Daily Express.

An £8 million bid is expected from the 'Old Lady', although they'll face competition from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg and Tottenham Hotspur.
