Chinese foreign exhange reserves increased by $185 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010, the country's foreign exchange regulator said on Monday, smaller than the $199 billion surge initially reported by the central bank.

In a statement on its website, it said that China's current account surplus was $102.2 billion in the fourth quarter, up 13 percent from a year earlier, while the capital and financial account surplus in the final three months of the year was $83.5 billion. It did not provide a year-on-year comparison for the latter.
