BEIJING - China will control overly rapid property price increases in some cities, the State Council said at a meeting on Monday, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

It did not specify how it would tamp down on the sizzling property market, but it did pledge to speed up construction of affordable housing and to take steps to stabilise market expectations. (Reporting by Langi Chiang and Simon Rabinovitch; Editing by Ken Wills)
