Chinese citizens have confessed bribing officials in their postings on several Chinese websites.

At least eight new sites, inspired by an Indian anti-corruption site called ‘I Paid A Bribe’, have been launched since Friday.

The aim of these sites is to bring forth the amount of corruption under the Chinese government and to invite the users to describe the amount of the bribe and the situations, but they refrained from identifying the related officials.

A site, confess-a-bribe, said that they were unable to determine if all the posts were true and removed the ones which risked defaming an official.

The sites attracted more than 50,000 visitors in the first three days.

The Chinese Ministry of Supervision has confirmed that the government is aware of the website but refused to comment, a report said.
