New developments in Chris Soules’ hit and run investigation are in and it’s not looking good for the former “Bachelor” star. Rumors have been swirling that he may have been drinking when his truck collided with a tractor, killing the other driver.

Prosecutors in Iowa have learned that Soules, 35, purchased alcohol before the accident. According to TMZ, that information was revealed in court documents filed Monday, which requested that a judge dismiss felony charges for fleeing the scene of the accident. The site notes that Soules refused to answer questions at the scene of the accident in regards to “the empty and partially consumed open alcoholic beverages located in and around his vehicle that he was seen purchasing at the convenience store shortly before the accident.”

Soules may be in luck, though. TMZ reports that because he fled the scene, authorities were unable to determine his “level of intoxication” when the accident occurred. This may make it difficult, if not impossible, for driving under the influence charges to hold up in court.

On April 27, TMZ obtained audio from Soules’ call to 911. In it, he reveals that he “rear-ended a guy on a tractor.” He announces that the man in question — later revealed to be Kenneth Mosher — was unconscious and didn’t appear to be breathing.

“I feel a pulse, yeah he’s got a pulse,” Soules said in the audio.

It’s been reported that someone on the scene performed CPR, though it’s not clear who that individual was. Mosher is not believed to have been dead at the time. Soules did, however, tell the 911 operator that there was blood on the premesis.

Shortly after reporting the accident EMTs arrived on the scene and Soules disappeared. People reported that someone picked the former “Bachelor” up not far from the accident. Whomever it was remains unidentified, but is at risk for being charged if they were aware that he was fleeing the scene of a crime.

Soules has only addressed the accident once since news broke of his arrest. In a statement released to People, he said that he was “devastated” by what happened. He sent his regards to Mosher’s family. Soules said very little else about the accident or the charges he was facing.

“Chris Soules was involved in an accident Monday evening (April 24) in a rural part of Iowa near his home. He was devastated to learn that Kenneth Mosher, the other person in the accident, passed away,” he said. “His thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Mosher’s family.”

Hours after news of Soules’ arrest broke, ET Online obtained new information. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the accident occurred around 8:20 p.m. EDT on Monday. He was driving a Chevy pickup truck when he rear ended a John Deere tractor trailer, sending both vehicles into a ditch.

Soules was arrested on April 25. He stood before a judge who ordered $10,000 bail and revoked his passport. Soules’ mother posted his bail and another court date was set for May 2.
