Christina Aguilera wanted to begin this season’s of “The Voice’s” live shows with a “bang,” according to People magazine, and it seems that is just what she did when she premiered a new hairstyle on Monday night.

The superstar is known for causing controversy and now it seems she’s got everyone talking about her hair.

For the first live episode of the "Voice" season, the celebrity judge decided to add strawberry highlights to her magnificently blonde hair, according to her stylist Mark Townsend.

Townsend is the stylist who is also responsible for braiding the whole right side of Aguilera's head into several twists, “so the pink color would show in the front,” he wrote on her website.

He continued to say that he wanted to add “some fun” to Aguilera’s new look.

“We wanted something fun and rock and roll with a touch of pop and color to best represent TeamXtina,” People quoted Aguilera.

She was in an adventurous mood for the night, so “she told me to go for it,” makeup artist Kristofer Buckle wrote, according to People.

He added that he gave her a bold smoky eye with pink lips to match her hair.

“Christina quite unapologetically doesn’t follow the rule that less is more,” he stated.

Unapologetic or not, her new style was not well received by most.

"If you are gonna do it, at least do it well. With all that money you would think she could afford to not see the extensions. Like her, but not the hair!" Kokie Rocks wrote on a Hollywood Life blog.

"I think the pink, green, purple hair she has done is ridiculous!" Sandy Stockman wrote on a Cosmopolitan blog.

"After one look at that close up my reaction was, "Holy Crap! How did Honeybooboo get so old so fast?!?" Marlarcus wrote on a Huffington Post blog.
