Picking out the right Christmas gift for a teenage guy can be a pretty daunting task. To help you out as you start your Christmas shopping, we’ve collected some of the best gift ideas out there. All of them are available online, and many can be purchased in-person at stores as well. Most of these gifts are under $100, but we included some splurges, too.

Smartphone Projector: The old-fashion projectors and in-home theater systems have gotten an upgrade. This projector accommodates any phone up to 3 x 5.5 inches and displays videos, photos or texts on the wall. The glass lens basically magnifies whatever’s showing on your phone, so everyone can just sit back, watch and enjoy. Price: $31.95

Solid Embroidered Backpack: This is a practical, yet cool gift. Target offers classic embroidered backpacks that allow you to personalize the bag with the teen’s initials or name. The backpack comes in blue, red or orange. Price: 34.99

Vending Machine iPhone Case: If the teen you're shopping for is an iPhone user, a cell phone case might be an easy, safe and cheap option. This one’s a pretty cool and unique one, and it’s pretty well-priced too. Price: $23

Hover Board: Hover boards are destined to be a popular buy this year. While they don’t exactly hover, the board is a battery-powered, self-balancing scooter that can be used for everyday commutes. Note that the New York City Police has banned them from the city’s streets, and there have already been some reports of injury. Price: $499-$699

Beats Mixr On-Ear Headphones: These are supposed to be some of the finest headphones on the market. Granted, they’re a bit pricey, but they should be a good buy. They're reportedly very durable with great sound quality. Price: $183.99

If you’re shopping for a more difficult teenager, gift-cards might be a safe way to go. Consider Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift cards if the teen likes reading, a Best Buy gift card if he likes electronics or possibly a Starbucks or restaurant gift card to play it safe.
