“Claws” stars Karrueche Tran and Carrie Preston would like to know more about the girls’ individual backstory in Season 2 of the TNT drama.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tran said that she’s hoping that viewers will learn more about her character’s past so they will understand her better.

“I just love the concept of opening up [my character] Virginia more and just revealing more about her and her life,” Tran told the news outlet when asked if there’s any particular thing the actress wants to do next season. “I think maybe more about her backstory would explain a lot about who she is and why she is the way she is. Maybe just more on that.”

Preston, who plays Polly on the show, shared similar sentiment during her chat with TV Guide. “I would love to see even more backstories [for] all of us women in the crew [in Season 2] because we’ve only just scratched the surface there,” Preston said.

At the end of the Season 1 finale, Desna (Niecy Nash), Jennifer (Jenn Lyon), Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes), Virginia and Polly all showed up at Glint Nails to prepare for the grand opening of the salon the next day. The group’s excitement, however, turned to disappointment when Desna revealed that she has to keep working at the old salon and launder cash for Riva (Andrea Sooch). Desna handed the keys to the new salon to Jen, but the mother of two and the rest of the crew refused to abandon their mother hen.

“I think they all made it very clear they would rather do that than advance without Desna,” Preston said of the touching gesture of the crew. “It's all or nothing. And so, I think they’ll continue to rally around each other and get each other through whatever challenges lie ahead with that kind of pressure from the mafia. And I’m hoping we see more of that in Season 2.”

TNT has yet to set an exact premiere date for Season 2 but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the new season will debut sometime in 2018.
