  • The finale airs on May 4

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” Season 7 has been exploring the fall of the Republic and the rise of the tyrannical Empire in its place. In a recent interview, executive producer Dave Filoni explained how the TV series is attempting to give the fans a chance to experience the events in “Revenge of the Sith” from another perspective while keeping the structure of the story the same.

In a way, the rise of the Empire started from a single event that nearly wiped out the Jedi. The animation series revisited the infamous Order 66 of the Emperor, but this time the fans got to see the events from Ahsoka (Ashley Eckstein) and Rex’s (Dee Bradley Baker) perspective.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Filoni revealed that he was trying to give a “big perspective” on how the war was affecting the Jedi and how the Republic turned into the Empire. The films explored this storyline, but “The Clone Wars” Season 7 explored it in greater detail.

The TV series showed how some of the Jedi were becoming arrogant because of their successes in the war. This happened at a time when their ability to use the Force was diminishing while on the other hand the Dark Side was stronger than ever.

The arrogance and clouded vision of the Jedi led to their downfall, and this event of their deaths across the galaxy has been featured in different formats in which the story has been told. IGN has compiled all the major deaths from the movies, TV shows, and games into one video. The video shows the impact of Order 66 in real time across the galaxy.

One of the key scenes in the animation series when Ahsoka finds the inhibitor chip in Rex has a deeper meaning, Screen Rant reported. While attempting to locate the shop she chanted: “I am one with the Force and the Force is with me.” The sentence was featured in the film “Rogue One,” and it is used by people who seek harmony with the Force rather than use it the way the Jedi did.

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” Season 7, episode 12 is titled “Victory and Death.” It will be released on May 4.
