Twitter is notorious for instigating bizarre online feuds, often between celebrities. On Friday, one of the most bizarre and unlikely public Twitter battles erupted between CNN anchor Don Lemon and “Superbad” actor Jonah Hill.

Apparently, after Lemon briefly encountered Hill in a hotel lobby, the anchor felt the actor blew him off.

Lemon tweeted: "Said hi to @jonahhill in hotel. Think he thought i was bellman. Didn't know his name til bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind."

Soon after the tweet by Lemon, Hill wrote back with the bizarrely abrasive tweet: "@DonLemonCNN I said hi what do you want me to do move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn't realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace."

While Hill’s tweet has since been deleted, several media outlets and blogs captured images of the offending tweet.

Lemon, who is openly homosexual, responded: "Hardly. You're not my type. But I know rude. And u were."

Finally, Hill wrote to Lemon: "@DonLemonCNN i walked out of the restroom and found you waiting for me. Shook hands, said hi and was on my way. Sorry if you found that rude."

Since the controversy erupted online between the two unlikely celebrities, Lemon appeared on CNN’s “Starting Point” with Soledad O’Brien to explain the incident. According to Lemon, he was treated as if he was “the help” by Hill.

Lemon added that his mother raised him to “always be polite” and that he was simply posting on Twitter to encourage celebrities to be more polite to supporters and fans.

All in all, it strikes one as a pretty bizarre thing to fight about on the Internet, but, then again, it’s far from the most ridiculous fight to ever occur online.
