The Coachella music festival is set to kick off this weekend, starting Friday. The California festival is split up into two weekends, the second part beginning next Friday, April 22.
But luckily for music fans who want to take in the superb lineup but don't want to travel to the California desert, the festival has online offerings. Coachella has become known for providing streams to its performances that have earned solid reviews in the past.
And in 2016, the festival is set to introduce some new features to its YouTube hub. Users will be able to choose from three separate live stream channels showing performances from the sprawling festival. There will also be an on-demand hub to scroll through highlights or catch up on performances you might have missed. Users will also be able to click on an interactive personalized schedule that will to customize their viewing experience. The live stream channel will then automatically change based on the schedule. The YouTube channel will also feature a social feed aimed at helping users keep up to date with highlights and the conversation surrounding the festival.
The set times for the first weekend of Coachella have been announced. Friday will be headlined by LCD Soundsystem, with Ellie Goulding, M83 and Of Monsters and Men also performing on the festival's main stage throughout the day. Saturday is set to be closed Guns N’ Roses and will also feature Ice Cube, Zedd, Chvrches and Courtney Barnett. Calvin Harris is scheduled for the closing spot Sunday, with the day's lineup also featuring Major Lazer, the 1975, Matt and Kim and Rancid.
