The Mass Effect 3 N7 rifle that will be used in the game was showcased at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, and was more detailed than any other replica in its class.

Canadian video game developing company Bioware had appointed Harrison Krix of Volpin Props to design a replica of the weapon for Comic-Con 2011 and the whole operation took Krix just 14 days. The weapon, previously, had never been revealed until now.

The replica was based on similar patterns that were hand-cut out from MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) and then glued together to bring the basic shape of the in-game rifle. Later Krix accumulated the stock and the barrel of the rifle with more MDF and PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) and carved out other details. The body was provided further enhancement with bondo, foam, sandpaper and clay.

The molded prototype was later painted with satin black and a topcoat of silver was also provided. Krix, unlike other replica makers, weathered the rifle that made it more lifelike rather than just a toy.

Krix, who earlier designed the M8 rifle replica from Mass Effect, in his blog, has even provided a guide to build a similar weapon, according to a report in the game’s official site.
