'Tis far better to give, than to receive, or so the saying goes.

What better time of year to show some generosity towards your fellow man than the holiday season?

Bergdorf Goodman is doing just that.

During the jolliest of seasons, the luxury department store is offering a complimentary cashmere hat by Theory after a purchase of $300 or more from the Theory boutique on 5F, Bergdorf's contemporary floor.

The charcoal gray, knit cap is the perfect accessory for those blustery days we all know await us. The cashmere fabric will keep your head cozy warm and the dark, sleek color will certainly match any winter wardrobe.

The offer is good while supplies last, one per customer, and available in-store only.

Theory wants us all to be prepped with a perfectly warm and perfectly practical cashmere cap this winter, writes Bergdorf Goodman blogger/Twitter connoisseur Cannon Hodge.

I've been wearing it whilst typing this post; it isn't itchy and it doesn't budge. Plus, ponytails fit quite nicely under the stretchy fabric.

The offer parallels Bergdorf's showcase of Theory and Theyskens' Theory at its 5F boutique and front-and-center on its Web site.

Olivier Theyskens, artistic director of Theory, is behind the urban cool Theyskens' Theory line. The Belgian designer hit the mark on effortless, downtown chic with this line, which debuted in Bergdorf's in January 2011.

The Fall 2011 collection is rife with luxe fabrics, stormy hues, maxi skirts, boxy frames, and perfectly tailored coats.

Theyskens made an appearance at Bergdorf's 5F restaurant on Nov. 11 for a Theyskens/Theory breakfast and Q&A session.

He chatted with attendees about experimenting with corduroy, the nocturnal fall colors, and getting inspiration from old photographs. Hodge (@Bergdorfs) tweeted live from the event.

The offer is good while supplies last.

What are you waiting for? It's cold outside.
