New Jersey police said they're investigating a video posted on YouTube that appears to show a cop punching a woman in the face.

The video shows a cop landing a punch in a woman’s face outside of a nightclub called Club Envy in Elizabeth. Neither the woman nor the police officer have been identified. Officials haven't confirmed whether or not the police officer has been suspended or was still on active, the New York Post said.

The video has garnered more than 10,000 views online. By Thursday, several of the many video versions of the incident had been removed from YouTube over copyright infringement concerns. One video though still remains on WorldStarHipHop.com, and a man in the background can be heard apparently chanting.

The (N.J.) Star-Ledger confirmed the Elizabeth Police Department is investigating the incident.

The video captured on a cellphone shows a scuffle outside of a nightclub, when, amid yelling and cursing, one man and a woman walk away from the fight.

About 19 seconds into the short video, a woman appears to try and break up a fight between another man and a police officer. After the cop subdues the man on the ground, the woman intervenes, apparently prompting the officer to punch her in the face. After that, the woman is seen on the ground.

Club Envy told the Huffington Post that it was aware of the fight, but didn't comment further.
