Sorry, Christian Grey, it appears Anastasia Steele has found a new lover.

Directly following the release of the first official “Fifty Shades of Grey” trailer Thursday, rumors are circulating that the film’s star, actress Dakota Johnson, has found a new boyfriend in musician Mathew Hitt.

The Daily Mail reports that Johnson, 24, was seen engaging in PDA with the 26-year-old British performer while out and about in New York City’s East Village Wednesday.

In photos obtained by the gossip site, the actress, who was in town for an NBC "Today" show appearance promoting the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trailer, is shown kissing and snuggling Hitt, a singer for the band Drowners.

“[They] were seen holding hands,” reports the site. “Dakota appeared to be quite comfortable with the public showing of affection as she gripped onto Matthew’s hand as he had his arm around her.”

Johnson was last known to be dating actor Jordan Masterson of “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Last Man Standing” fame. The couple was spotted together celebrating Holy Week in Malaga, Spain, in April.

In May, Johnson sparked rumors that she might be an item with British actor Benedict Cumberbatch after they were photographed enjoying a casual meal together in New York’s Lower East Side following their introduction at the Met Gala the previous night. The dating rumors followed reports that Cumberbatch, 37, had been hiding a secret new girlfriend from the public.

On Thursday, Johnson appeared on “Today” alongside her “Fifty Shades of Grey” co-star, Jamie Dornan, to premiere the feature’s first trailer.

“It’s not like a romantic situation,” Johnson said of her time spent filming the erotic film’s more explicit scenes. "It’s more like technical and choreographed and its like more of a task.”

“Fifty Shades of Grey” debuts in theaters on Feb. 13, 2015.
