It’s that time of season when “Dancing With the Stars” fans begin guessing which one of their favorite celebrities could be competing for the Mirror Ball trophy in the upcoming installment of the hit ABC series. But the theorizing among viewers has grown even more intense since Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late Steve Irwin, confirmed her participation in Season 21 of the rump-shaking competition.

On Monday, the animal-loving teen announced on “Good Morning America” that she was going to partake in the upcoming installment of the long-running show, which will return to the small screen on Monday, Sept. 14.

“I’m really, really excited and so honored to be a part of this new journey and new chapter of my life,” she said. “I have to tell you, this is completely different [than] anything I have ever done in my life. I’m used to wrangling crocodiles!”

Now instead of facing sharp-toothed reptiles, Irwin will go head-to-head with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. But who exactly will the animal activist be facing in Season 21 of “DWTS”? Well, according the E! News, Irwin might be sashaying alongside “Backstreet Boys” singer Nick Carter and “Spy Kids” star Alexa PenaVega. It was reported that both potential contestants are “in talks” to partake on the series but have yet to sign a contractual agreement.

During an interview with Glamour magazine, executive producer Rob Wade divulged that when looking for “DWTS” contestants, they seek out those who are “current in the news.” And PenaVega is quite current. Not only has the actress appeared in TV series such as “The Mentalist” and “Nashville,” but the artist is also a huge fan of the upcoming Fox musical “Grease: Live,” which stars both “DWTS” judge Julianne Hough and PenaVega’s husband, Carlos PenaVega.

“Yesssssss!!!!! @greaselivefox So proud baby!!! @therealcarlospena,” PenaVega gushed on Instagram when it was revealed by the Hollywood Reporter that her husband was cast as Kenickie in the forthcoming musical.

E! News also revealed that “Full House” star Jodie Sweetin was offered a spot on the ballroom floor, too, but had to turn the gig down considering her hectic new schedule of starring on the Netflix series “Fuller House.” If Sweetin was to accept the “DWTS” proposal, she’d be following in the footsteps of her TV sister, Candace Cameron Bure who tapped her way back into our hearts during Season 18.

"DWTS" fans can expect another Season 21 contestant to be revealed on Tuesday during "Sports Nation."
