Prague, Czech Republic-based Bohemia Interactive recently launched a number of updates for zombie survival game “DayZ.” The updates fixed a number of bugs within the game, from players breathing too loudly to binoculars not working correctly when users are in certain positions. It also added a variety of new features.
“Two very important changes were improvements to multiplayer netcode and an entirely new mouse control system that removed the previous one based on mouse acceleration,” the developer stated on its blog.
“We’re now continuing our work optimizing and bug fixing, while others in the studio work towards new functionality for hunting and survival.”
Bohemia also announced it was working on bringing its first batch of animals to the game, including types of aquatic life.
Earlier this month, the studio announced “DayZ” had sold 1.7 million copies of the standalone game, while “DayZ” creator Bohemia Interactive had opened a new studio in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Creator Dean Hall revealed the news at the British gaming event EGX Rezzed 2014 in March, where he also announced the game’s original “Arma 2” mod had been downloaded more than 2 million times.
The developer’s Slovakia branch will employ the facilities, technologies and staff of game company Cauldron, which was founded in 1996 and is the developer behind “Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010” and “Jurassic: The Hunted.”
“DayZ” launched on Dec. 17 on Steam Early Access in an alpha release. After one hour, the game had recruited 19,000 users. During the first 12 hours, the title drew 88,000 players. After 24 hours, “DayZ” had been downloaded 172,500 times. The open-world multiplayer title was created by New Zealander Hall and developed by Bohemia Interactive. “DayZ” is a standalone version of the award-winning mod of the same name.
The following issues were repaired in the game:
Binoculars not functioning properly in crouch and prone states.
Thrown objects moving at a slow frame rate during peak server load
Crossbow damage higher than desired
Player breathing in first person louder than desired
Ongoing melee balancing has zombies more resilient to body impacts. (Aim for the head)
Accelerated Time falls out of sync after extended uptime (disabled for this update)
