Delta Air Lines said Friday that more than 3,000 people accepted voluntary severance offers, according to a spokeswoman for the carrier.

Delta will accept all the volunteers, said spokeswoman Betsy Talton, according to the Associated Press. As a result, the carrier will cut at least 1,000 more jobs than previously planned.

The carrier said on March 18 that it was offering the payouts to about 30,000 employees. It's initial goal was to cut 2,000 administrative and management jobs.
