“Destiny” players are experiencing a bug in the game’s companion app for iOS and Android, an error that causes some users to lose items when they attempt to move them.

This isn’t the first time the companion app to Bungie’s popular sci-fi shooter has experienced issues. Last month, the Bellevue, Washington-based developer released an update to the app that allowed users to equip and move weapons from their vaults via their smartphones. Those attempting to do so initially received a number of "weasel” errors, but Bungie repaired the glitch shortly after players reported it. Now, the company is working on the current problem.

"Additionally, we have heard reports that players are losing items when transferring items using the Companion app,” the developer said as part of its weekly update.

Meanwhile, the popular shooter is now at 17 million registered players, Bungie announced at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco last week. The average player is spending three hours a day online.

“Destiny” launched last September for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

The title takes place 700 years in the future in a postapocalyptic setting after a lucrative and successful period of exploration and peace called the Golden Age. The game is set in a universe where humans have colonized a number of livable planets in the solar system. But a disastrous event known as the Collapse saw the mysterious destruction of these colonies, leaving mankind nearly extinct. When humans attempt to repopulate and recover after the Collapse, aggressive and dangerous alien races are discovered in various towns and cities.
