Comedian Dick Van Dyke and his wife escaped unscathed from a burning car on Monday afternoon after their Jaguar caught fire on a Los Angeles-area freeway.

CNN reports that Van Dyke pulled the car over on the Ventura Freeway in Calabasas, Calif., around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon after noticing the fire. Several good Samaritans stopped to help Van Dyke out of his car before the California Highway Patrol arrived on the scene. Despite the fire, both the 87-year-old Van Dyke and his wife Arlene are unharmed, though the car appears to have been nearly destroyed.

“Van Dyke’s melted car,” Arlene Van Dyke posted on Monday night. “He’s fine thank God!!”

Attached to her tweet was a Vine showing the wrecked car pulled over on the freeway as well as Van Dyke discussing the incident with a pair of police officers. Much of the dialogue is unintelligible, but at one point, an officer is clearly heard asking Van Dyke, “What do you want to do with it?” Van Dyke himself retweeted the post, but did not add any comments.
