There was no New Year's luck for lottery players hoping to win the huge jackpot. Saturday's Powerball drawing did not have a grand-prize winner for the $500 million jackpot with a cash value of $355.9 million.

The winning lottery numbers drawn on New Year's Day were 6, 12, 39, 48, 50. The Powerball number was 7 with a Power Play 2X.

Since the latest jackpot went unclaimed, the jackpot for Monday's drawing will climb to an estimated $522 million, with a cash option of $371.5 million.

Although there was no grand prize lottery winner for the Saturday drawing, a few players were able to become instant millionaires. Players from Arizona, California, and Florida hit the Match 5, winning $1 million each.

Meanwhile, a player from Maryland hit the Match 5 with Power Play purchase, and won $2 million.

However, the instant millionaires weren’t the only winners from the night. There were 56 players who hit the Match 4 plus red Powerball that won $50,000 apiece.

Meanwhile, seven players won the Match 4 plus red Powerball with a Power Play purchase, putting their winnings for the night at $100,000. The rest of the prizes from the night ranged between $4 and $200.

It has been nearly three months since there was a winner of the jackpot. A California man matched the winning numbers for the $699.8 million grand prize in early October.

To win the jackpot, a player must match the six numbers on their ticket to the drawn six-number combination. Five numbers need to be selected from 1 to 69 for the white balls, and a number is selected from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The Powerball costs $2 per play.
