Rowan Blanchard may have said goodbye to her “Girl Meets World” character, Riley, Matthews, but the 15-year-old actress is still very much active on television.

Blanchard currently stars in “The Goldbergs” as Jackie, an avid fan of “Star Wars” and the “Lord of the Rings.” Jackie also happens to be the founder of The Cosmodrome, a school paper, and she’s also in a relationship with Adam (Sean Giambrone).

On Wednesday night’s episode, Jackie and Adam shared their first kiss, and Twitter users couldn’t help but liken it to a similar scene in “Boy Meets World,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

In the scene, Jackie and Adam kiss each other in front of the school lockers. In “Boy Meets World” several years ago, Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) kissed each other against the lockers. Additionally, Jackie from “The Goldbergs” and Topanga from “Boy Meets World” both took the lead in their respective kissing scenes. Years later, Topanga and Cory were blessed with a daughter named Riley, the role Blanchard played.

Earlier this year, Disney Channel decided to cancel “Girl Meets World” after only three seasons. In the series finale episode, Topanga contemplated on whether or not she would accept the job offer that will bring her and her entire family to London. She later on decided to stick to the home she’s known all of her life, for her sake and the sake of her husband and children.

Following the cancellation of “Girl Meets World,” Blanchard penned a lengthy post narrating her experiences and learnings from taking part in the hit Disney Channel sitcom. Towards the end of her post, Blanchard urged her supporters to continue watching episodes of “Girl Meets World” and start conversations about its timely topics.

Meanwhile, Blanchard recently graced this month’s cover of NYLON and said that she’s somehow moved on from the cancellation of “Girl Meets World.” “I feel good about it now in the sense that, as much as I loved my ‘Girl Meets World’ family, working for Disney Channel is stressful, and I have more freedom to do what I want and talk about what I want without feeling inhibited,” she said.

Blanchard went on to say that Disney Channel eventually realized that no matter how much they tried to silence her from sharing her thoughts and opinions, she still wouldn’t do it.

The teenage actress also shared that she was hesitant to star in “Girl Meets World” at first. After all, some of the stars who appeared on the network eventually shocked the world with their sudden changes. “I knew the show would end someday, and I didn’t want there to be this weird part where it was like, good girl, good girl, good girl, and then all of a sudden, bam, she’s going to show her boobs,” Blanchard said.

But she eventually grew close to her TV mom, Fishel, and both of them agreed that Riley shouldn’t focus too much on romance. “I had expressed very adamantly that I want the character to be smart, self-sufficient, and to have interests 100 percent outside of relationships. I didn’t necessarily get my way in that regard,” Fishel said.
