For those who want to know what it's like to be in an operating room, simply follow Dr. Michael Salzhauer on Snapchat. The doctor, who simply goes by “Dr. Miami,” posts graphic videos of his surgeries on the ephemeral mobile app.

While most people have a few seconds' worth of stories on their Snapchat profile, Dr. Miami, the owner and Chief Surgeon at Bal Harbour Plastic Surgery, has hundreds. That’s because he shows various different parts of his surgeries. First he’ll introduce himself. Then he’ll show his staff, and then he’ll show a before picture of his client for the day. Faces, names and tattoos are never shown. The doctor will usually place an emoji over the person’s tattoo and during the surgery he’ll cover the identifying marker with a towel.

Dr. Miami does plenty of Brazilian butt lifts at his practice, but people aren’t just going to see tons of booties on his Snapchat. Instead, he shows the gruesome moments of surgeries, whether it’s pulling back skin during a nose job or putting in an implant during a breast augmentation.

It’s not just on Snapchat. Dr. Miami, who is a Miami-based board-certified plastic surgeon, also posts his work -- before, during and after -- to Instagram and Twitter.

"This allows people to actually see what the process is like. It demystifies it so it's a lot easier for them to take the plunge, so to speak," Dr. Miami told NBC 6 about his patients, whom he calls “Beauty Warriors.”

“Occasionally people will say isn’t this a HIPPA violation? And the answer is, of course, we always ask permission; not all my patients sign up to be snapped,” Salzhauer said.

With two full-time social media assistants, the doctor enjoys his work. “This is fun! This is the most fun I’ve had since medical school," he said.
