“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson is scheduled to speak this week at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans.

Robertson, and his family's popular reality TV show, faced a major backlash last year after he shared his views on homosexuality and race relations during an interview with GQ. Robertson was temporarily suspended from the show as a result of the comments.

A sermon Robertson gave during this year’s Easter service at his church in West Monroe, Louisiana, recently put his views back in the spotlight. During the sermon, he spoke of sin and his views on “homosexual offenders.”

“You say, why’d they get mad at you?” Robertson said during the 45-minute sermon. “‘Cuz instead of acknowledging their sin, like you had better do, they railed against me for giving them the truth about their sins. Don’t deceive yourselves.”

Robertson will be speaking on Thursday at the event. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia, former presidential candidate Herman Cain, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and former Rep. Allen West of Florida are just a few of the other speakers scheduled.
