A Miami judge has ordered NBA star Dwyane Wade to surrender his two children over to their mother, ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches.

Wade, who plays for the NBA champion Miami Heat, was initially supposed to leave the former couple’s two sons with Funches for a scheduled summer vacation, the Miami Herald reports. However, Wade allegedly neglected to do so, opting instead to file a motion blocking Funches’ access to the children amid questions about her mental state.

Miami-Dade County Judge Antonio Marin denied the motion, ordering Wade Tuesday to immediately surrender the two boys to Funches, the Miami Herald reports. At the same time, Marin ordered Funches to undergo psychiatric evaluation for potential anger management issues.

Funches and Wade, former high school sweethearts, were married in 2002 and have two children together. However, the couple divorced in 2007, with Wade receiving full custody of the two boys in 2011, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Wade’s deteriorating relationship with his ex-wife has been a source of media scrutiny since July 19, when Funches’ bizarre behavior became the subject of a viral video. In the video, a distraught Funches was pictured sitting outside of the Daley Center in downtown Chicago, holding a sign that read “NBA Miami Heat Star Mother Of His Children On The Streets,” presumably suggesting that Wade was not supporting her financially.

The Heat star denied his ex-wife’s claims, noting through lawyer James Pritikin that he pays Funches $25,000 per month in child support. Nevertheless, Wade reached an additional settlement with Funches on July 23, the Sun-Times reports. According to the arrangement, Wade will pay Funches $5 million as part of a “nondisparage” agreement, which will prevent either party from publicly lambasting the other.
