Online marketplace eBay Inc posted a lower profit for the holiday fourth quarter, as revenue rose 5 percent.

Net income for the quarter was $559.2 million, or 42 cents per share, compared with $1.36 billion, or $1.02 per share, a year earlier. Excluding items, earnings were 52 cents per share.
