Married since 2008, rumors have surrounded Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s relationship for quite some time but in a recent interview, the Emmy-winning talk show host said her and de Rossi are happier than ever.

Talking to People magazine, DeGeneres expressed her gratitude for everything in her life including the “best friend.”

“I’m grateful for everything. I’m grateful for my health, and I’m so grateful for the love in my life. Because not everybody finds that. Not everybody finds that best friend,” she said.

Having been married for eight years, DeGeneres says she has learned to never take de Rossi for granted and constantly reminds her how lucky she is to have her. “Portia and I constantly say to each other, ‘We are so lucky.’ Sometimes it’s lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there.”

And while there have been numerous reports of the couple splitting up, DeGeneres says she’s “not going anywhere” and neither is her actress wife. “I’ve gotten to a place where I really am just settled. Really. I know that I’m not going anywhere. She’s not going anywhere.”

While the couple, who live in Los Angeles, both have their own busy careers, DeGeneres says putting their marriage first is the key. “Our priorities are each other too. If we had kids, then I’m sure they would be, but we are. And that’s important.”

The talk show host’s comments about de Rossi being her best friend echo what her partner said about her in January. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, de Rossi said, “We’re just really good friends and we talk about everything, and we never ever, ever lie to each other, like, not even the tiniest lies… Like, she is my best friend and I just want to be with her all the time.”
