Jamal (Jussie Smollett) may have the keys to the Lyon kingdom, but that's not going to stop Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) from trying to become the best rapper in the world and find a way to rule on Fox's hip-hop drama "Empire." The youngest Lyon may find a new girl to be his co-pilot in his ride to fame.

Showrunner Ilene Chaiken told TVLine that fans will be introduced to Hakeem's new love interest, Laura (Jamila), in episode 4. Chaiken revealed to the site in late August that Laura would be a character to keep your eye on and she clarified what she meant by that.

"I don’t know that I meant to call her a major character, but she’s a major talent. Certainly, she’s someone I wanted fans to be aware of because we’re excited about her music and her story — she plays an important relationship role [as] a love interest for Hakeem," she explained.

In July, E! Online reported Hakeem would pursue a new woman, who is a "seriously talented vocalist." It won't be easy for Hakeem, as she might not be down for his romantic intentions.

Last season, Hakeem had two relationships, one with Tiana (Serayah McNeill) and another with older fashion designer Camilla Marks (Naomi Campbell). Lucious sent Camilla away for attempting to manipulate his son last season, which hurt Hakeem. The rapper may now have moved past those feelings and is ready for something new.

Tiana will be a regular on the show this season, but it's unclear what the relationship will be between her and Hakeem. In Season 2, episode 2, titled "Without A Country," Hakeem is going to attempt to put an all female group together and he will do his best to woo a good looking Latina singer to join it. Could Tiana be one of the women he has in mind for the group as well or is he trying to rekindle an old flame?

"Empire" Season 2, episode 2 airs Wednesday on Fox at 9 p.m. EDT.
