Singer Erykah Badu and her boyfriend, rapper/ producer Jay Electronica, welcomed their daughter this weekend and shared the happy news in real time on Twitter, the blogging site.

The baby girl was born Sunday according to Universal Motown Records Group, the singer's record label.

The couple gave updates about the birth on Twitter by saying Badu had a home birth that lasted about five hours and that she didn't use painkillers.
