Ex-Friends Leighton Meester, Blake Lively Almost Had An Awkward Blair-Serena Reunion At Golden Globes After-Party

The recently concluded Golden Globes was a time for glamour, talent-recognition and reunions of former co-actors. The latter is true for “Gossip Girl” lead actresses Leighton Meester and Blake Lively who almost had a chance meeting at an after-party. But it could be for the best that the two ladies did not reunite. After all, they have never been on speaking terms since their CW show wrapped up.

On Monday, a guest at the InStyle Golden Globes after-party, named Carly Mallebaum, shared on Twitter a raw clip of Meester and Lively spotted in the same room. Mallenbaum grabbed the chance to reference the actresses’ famous characters, Blair and Serena, in her post and even pointed out how the elite gathering could pass as one of the parties in the series.

Obviously, it would be awkward for Meester and Lively to catch up on each other that night, since the two have gone separate ways since filming for “Gossip Girl” ended in December 2012. A source revealed to Perez Hilton a year later why the onscreen BFFs were never spotted hanging out since. “After something of a thaw in their relationship during the final two seasons of ‘Gossip Girl,’ Leighton and Blake don’t speak anymore,” the source said. “They continue to stay as far away from each other as possible.”

The gap between the former co-stars has widened through the years and it’s clear that both Meester and Lively want to keep it this way. In 2014, the blonde beauties — FYI: Meester is naturally blonde — attended the Met Gala in New York City, as reported by Daily Mail. Even then, the actresses did not grab the chance to reunite and patch things up.

Both Meester and Lively are already married and have kids. Meester is married to her “The Oranges” co-star Adam Broody, while Lively tied the knot with her “Green Lantern” leading man, Ryan Reynolds. While Lively has made her presence felt in several Hollywood gatherings and projects with her husband, Meester has been living a low-profile life with Brody. In fact, Meester and Brody surprised everyone on Sunday when they made a rare public appearance at the Golden Globes.
