What Does Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively’s Baby Name Mean? Couple Chooses Unique Moniker For Daughter

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are no strangers to odd baby names. The couple’s first born is named James, so there was really no surprise when their second child, also a girl, was given a unique name as well.

The couple named their baby girl Ines, Us Weekly reported Wednesday. Reynolds and Lively made their first public appearance with their children last Thursday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame where Reynolds received a star. James, 23 months, and Ines, two months, tagged along with their parents for the big event.

Although Lively and Reynolds have yet to reveal why the went with Ines for their second daughter, the name has several meanings. In Greek, the name means kind or innocent, in Spanish it means meek or chaste and in American and Italian it means chaste.

In Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian, Ines is a form of the name Agnes. The name Ines ranked number 1,460 on the list of popular baby girl names for 2016, according to Baby Center.

Although the couple’s choice for Ines’ name may be a mystery, Reynolds’ wasn’t so secretive about how thrilled he was that he brought his family of four out to be a part of his special moment. “This is one of the rare occasions when we thought we got to bring the whole clan. I’d regret it in 20 years if I didn’t,” he told Extra at the event.

Although Ines held on tight to her mother, James seemed to be having a blast making her Hollywood debut. Reynolds explained that his little girl was showing off for the camera. “It’s not the first time she’s snatched a mic out of someone’s hands,” the actor stated.

Aside from the laughs, the “Deadpool” star was very serious when he expressed his love for his wife during the event. “I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me,” Reynolds said while addressing the crowd at the ceremony.

“You make everything better. You make everything in my life better. You’ve given me two of the most incredible children I’ve ever hoped to have,” the actor said.
