Sheriff Helen Torrance (Julianne Nicholson) is going to meet FBI special agent Ryan Kane (Warren Christie) in Season 1, episode 4 of “Eyewitness.”

In the trailer for the episode, entitled “Crème Brulée,” Helen’s previously canceled appointment with Ryan finally takes place. But when Helen reveals that Bella’s (Katie Douglas) boyfriend should be considered as a suspect to the teenager’s death, Ryan — who is secretly Bella’s beau and killer — tries to shut down Helen’s theory. “I think maybe you need to take another angle,” he tells Tivoli’s sheriff.

Despite Ryan’s attempt to divert Helen’s course of investigation, Helen sticks with her gut and continues to search for Bella’s boyfriend. As seen in the preview clip, Helen enlists FBI agent Kamilah Davis’ (Tattiawna Jones) help to find Bella’s boyfriend. “Look at your surveillance to see if Bella’s been spotted with an older guy,” Helen tells Kamilah.

The video also shows Helen and her husband Gabe Caldwell (Gil Bellows) confronting their foster son Philip Shea (Tyler Young) about a secret he’s hiding from them. “I know there’s something you’re not telling us,” Helen tells Philip. Even though Lukas Waldenbeck (James Paxton) is worried that Philip finally decides to tell his parents about the triple murder they witnessed in the series premiere, it isn’t probably the secret Philip reveals to his foster parents.

In the same episode, Lukas makes a bold move to dismiss speculations that he’s gay. According to the synopsis for the episode, Lukas “creates a scandal to bury gay rumors at school.”

In a tweet Paxton posted earlier today, he wrote that “episode 4 is crazy too,” but some of his favorite parts of the show won’t happen until episode 5.

In a recent interview with Parade, Nicholson revealed that fans will also learn in episode 4 why exactly Helen moved from Buffalo to Tivoli.

“It’s in episode 4 that it’s revealed what happened to her. So we will know that. And it does very much inform the rest of the series,” she said.

“Eyewitness” Season 1, episode 4 airs on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
