Helen (Julianne Nicholson) thinks that Philip (Tyler Young) is telling lies about Lukas (James Paxton) in Season 1, episode 6 of “Eyewitness.”

In the preview clip for the episode, titled “The Yellow Couch,” Helen asks Lukas whether he’s actually in the cabin when the triple murder happened. Much to her surprise, the motocross rider denies everything Philip has told her about him.

“Philip told me you’re in your family’s cabin on the night of the shootings?” Helen asks Lukas.

“He’s lying,” Lukas replies.

Hearing Lukas’ side of the story leads Helen to question her foster son’s honesty. In fact, when Philip brings Helen to the place where Lukas hid the murder weapon, she asks the city boy: “Are you absolutely sure that Lukas threw the gun to this pond?”

For some reasons, Helen comes to a conclusion that Lukas is the one telling the truth, worsening the trust issues between her and Philip. “We were wrong, Gabe (Gil Bellows). Lukas wasn’t lying. It was Philip,” Helen tells her husband.

Philip’s twisted confession about the massacre also appears to cause a major rift between him and Lukas. At one point in the preview clip, Lukas yells at Philip in front of Rose (Mercedes Morris) asking his secret lover to stop stalking him. This, however, could just be a part of Lukas’ plan to cover up his true sexuality and keep his motocross sponsorships.

According to the synopsis for the episode, “Lukas is on the verge of his dream sponsorship but it requires an act of betrayal to secure the deal.”

But based on Paxton’s interview with Entertainment Weekly last month, it seems that his character will end up giving up his motocross sponsorship just to make it up to Philip.

When asked if Lukas will redeem himself eventually, Paxton told the news outlet: “By around episode 6, Lukas breaks your heart, and it’s all forgiven. He really makes it up to Philip in a big way. He sacrifices something huge of his own for [him]. That’s all I’m going to say.”

“Eyewitness” Season 1, episode 6 airs on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 10 p.m. EST on USA Network.
