The new TV spot of “Fantastic Four” has surfaced online. It shows the Fantastic Four displaying their superpowers and Doctor Doom creating his special brand of terror. It opens with Susan Storm (Kate Mara) telling the government officials, “Because of our abilities you locked the four of us away, but we are not the ones you should fear." Doctor Doom can be seen giving an eerie look as the power in the city goes off. Storm adds that the Fantastic Four will help the government if they are allowed to have their own way. The city can be seen getting destroyed, as Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan) appears to be shooting fireballs, Invisible Woman (Mara) generates force fields and The Thing (Jamie Bell) punches a tree. The spot ends with a car getting burned.

Josh Trank has directed the film and it will show four friends getting teleported to an alternate universe where they have superhuman abilities. Their physical form will change and they must harness their new abilities to fight Doctor Doom. Miles Teller, who plays Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards, revealed in his previous interview that the film is not far from reality.

“When I read the script, I didn’t feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible supehero tale. These are all very human people that end up having to become what is known as the Fantastic Four. So for me it was just a really good story and gives me an opportunity to play something different from my own skin. It’s a proper character, and that’s my favorite stuff to do,” he said to IGN.

Trank also wrote the screenplay, with Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater, based on the comic book of the same name by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The other star cast of the film includes Reg E. Cathey and Tim Blake Nelson. Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn, Hutch Parker and Robert Kulzar are the producers.

The movie opens Aug. 7.
