V.M. Varga (David Thewlis) is starting his corporation’s shady business with Emmit Stussy’s (Ewan McGregor) parking lot company as a front in Season 3, episode 2 of “Fargo.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, titled “The Principle of Restricted Choice,” Varga makes a move. While that tease seems figurative, the trailer for the episode reveals that it couldn’t be more literal.

In the 30-second promo clip, Varga brings a huge truck to Emmit’s parking lot.

“You can’t park that here,” says the old parking lot attendant.

“Your employer gave me permission,” Varga replies.

In the office, Emmit and his right-hand man, Sy Feltz (Michael Stuhlbarg), wonders what’s inside the truck.

“It could be anything. Booze, guns … slave girls?” says Sy.

As revealed in the Season 3 premiere, Emmit’s business, Stussy Lots Limited, hit some bumps a couple of years ago and needed a loan. They tried borrowing money from banks, but to no avail. So Emmit and Sy turned to a firm represented by a broker.

Emmit now has the money to pay the loan. But when Varga, a representative of the firm, showed up in their office, Emmit and Sy were told that the money wasn’t a loan, but an investment so Varga’s employer “can better disguise” its activities. What could these illegal activities be?

Elsewhere in next week’s episode, Ray Stussy (also played by McGregor) and his ex-con girlfriend Nikki Swango (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) move on to Plan B after they seemingly encounter some problems while trying to get away with the murder of his parolee, Maurice LeFay (Scoot McNairy).

In the Season 3 premiere, after Ray’s twin brother, Emmit, refused to give him a loan, Ray turned to Maurice and instructed him to steal the expensive vintage stamp that originally belonged to him from his sibling’s house. Ray promised to forget the drug test Maurice just flunked if Maurice successfully gets Ray’s stamp back for him.

In a surprising turn of events, Maurice ended up in the wrong house and killed Ennis Stussy (Scott Hylands) in the process. After Ray and Nikki found out what happened and after Maurice demanded $5,000 from Ray, the lovers killed Maurice by dropping an AC unit on his head.

In the trailer for episode 2, Emmit seems scared for himself, telling Nikki that he never killed anybody before.

Also in next week’s episode, police officer Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon) deals with the aftermath of the murder of his stepdad, Ennis.

“Fargo” Season 3, episode 2 airs on Wednesday, April 26 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. Watch the trailer below:
