Emmit Stussy (Ewan McGregor) remains cold to Sy Feltz (Michael Stuhlbarg) in next week’s Season 3, episode 8 of “Fargo.”

In the trailer for the upcoming episode, Sy comes to Emmit’s house to check on him. “Is he home?” Sy asks Meemo (Andy Yu). “We got a meeting.” Although Emmit is at his house, Meemo doesn’t let Sy in. Instead, V.M. Varga’s (David Thewlis) henchman just shuts the door without giving Sy any answers.

In Season 3, episode 7, Emmit surprisingly accused Sy of conniving with Ray Stussy (also played by McGregor). “Is that what he’s telling you? Varga?” Sy asked Emmit. “Because that’s just crazy. In the face of all logic, that somehow I decided, me, the partner in a multi-million dollar corporation, that I decided to what, turn on you? Join forces with your … brother and his syphilitic floozy so I could turn millions into thousands? What’s the math there?” Although Emmit apologized for what he suggested, he still did mention at the end of their conversation that he doesn’t know who to trust.

According to the synopsis for episode 8, Sy joins Varga for tea, which seemingly doesn’t end well for the lawyer-accountant. In the trailer for the episode, Sy appears to be poisoned and is seen falling on his back at the lobby of Stussy Lots’ office.

Elsewhere in the episode, Emmit gets spooked when he realizes that his office is adorned with several pictures of the vintage stamp his late brother Ray originally inherited from their father. He is also shocked when he sees Ray’s Corvette at the parking lot of his office.

The synopsis for episode 8 also confirms that Nikki Swango (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) survived the road incident at the end of episode 7. While she’s not dead, the episode summary notes that Ray’s lover “struggles” to remain alive.

In the trailer for episode 8, Gloria Burgle (Carrie Coon) arrives at the scene of the vehicular incident and asks the responding authorities if Nikki is one of the victims. It seems, however, that Nikki has secretly been taken into Varga’s custody before Gloria reaches the scene.

“Fargo” Season 3, episode 8, titled “Who Rules the Land of Denial,” airs on Wednesday, June 7 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX. Watch the trailer below:
