Fans still reeling from the suspenseful Season 6 finale of “The Walking Dead” don’t have long to wait for their weekly dose of the zombie apocalypse. To ramp up excitement for Season 2 of “Fear the Walking Dead,” AMC released a new teaser that finally reveals what it looks like when walkers make their way to deep water.

It was previously reported that “Fear the Walking Dead” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd said one reason Season 2 will take place on the ocean is to quiet fans who claimed it would be a no-brainer haven from the chaos happening on the mainland. But that safety hinges on one key assumption — that zombies can't swim.

“Zombies can’t swim,” fellow executive producer Dave Erickson told Entertainment Weekly. “They can wade. That’s something we experimented with when we shot the first episode. We’ve figured out the best way to shoot water zombies. They don’t drown. They keep floating back up.”

The latest teaser trailer for the show’s premiere on Sunday, April 10, finally offered a glimpse at what it looks like when a walker floats to the top of the water. Admittedly, it doesn’t look that threatening unless you decide to swim up to it and look it right in the face — which Nick (Frank Dillane) does.

The trailer opens with the Season 1 character apparently taking a dip, because what better way for a recovering drug addict in the zombie apocalypse to cool off is there? While he’s swimming in the ocean’s depths, apparently oblivious to sharks, he spots a floating stranger near the surface. He swims up to it and has a sanguine look on his face as the monster comes to life and starts to grab at him.

While it’s been teased in the past that the luxury yacht the group flees to is highly coveted by other sea-faring survivors of Los Angeles, it seems that the group isn’t necessarily out of danger of walkers. Additionally, it seems that the survivors aboard the yacht, “Abigail,” will cause trouble for themselves by making runs to shore. While supplies and fuel are necessities to keep the ship afloat, the sneak peek at the premiere, which aired on Sunday during “The Walking Dead,” shows a different mission.

It’s unclear exactly what’s going on, but Travis (Cliff Curtis) is carrying what appears to be a body wrapped in a sheet. There’s no telling who the person is or even if he or she really died, since that question gets kind of murky in the zombie apocalypse. However, it does show the immense danger that everyone appears to be facing once they leave the safety of the yacht and the cadre of dead bodies floating around it.

“Fear the Walking Dead” airs episode 1 of Season 2 Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC. Will you be watching? Comment below or tweet your thoughts on the recent teaser to @TylerMcCarthy.
