While “Fear the Walking Dead” executive producer Dave Erickson has been tight-lipped on when exactly Daniel and Ofelia will be reunited, he has recently assured fans that the father-daughter reunion won’t be one of those dark moments on the AMC series.

“In my opinion, it will definitely be beautiful,” Erickson told Cinema Blend of the much-anticipated reunion between Daniel (Rubén Blades) and Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) in Season 3. “That’s been a long time coming, and one of the things I like about this, is the back half of the season is very much about reuniting the family and bringing all these various plotlines and sort of weaving them back into one.”

“One of the things that’s interesting to me is how people have changed in each other’s absences,” the executive producer continued. “Ofelia has clearly changed since Daniel last saw her. So it’s interesting to watch everyone sort of reconcile who their loved ones have become during these absences. So however that turns out, I do think beautiful is an applicable word.”

In Season 3, episode 11, Daniel found out from Walker (Michael Greyeyes) that Ofelia is working as soldier for The Nation. When Daniel insisted that he did not raise a soldier, Walker revealed to Daniel that Ofelia poisoned a dozens of their enemies and saved many lives. While The Nation considers Ofelia a hero, the news deeply upset Daniel.

Despite how vicious Ofelia has become, Blades thinks that Daniel would still choose to side with The Nation over the Ottos when he finds out about the political situation at the ranch. In an interview with BT TV earlier this month, Blades said that his character’s priority is always his family, so it’s a no-brainer that Daniel would stand by The Nation, in which Ofelia has a senior role.

“[Daniel’s] concern has always been his family,” Blades explained. “He is going to go wherever they go. Everything else is secondary. He will stick by Ofelia no matter what.”
