Tottenham Hotspur, having signed American goalkeeper Brad Friedel, had their £10.6 million bid rejected for Brazilian forward Leandro Damiao, but the club is reportedly still interested in the young star.

The 6'1 Internacional star is expected to fetch nearly £20 million. He is also reportedly being pursued by Barcelona, Roma, and Benfica.

Damiao, 21, has been on tear in the Brazilian league this season, having scored 22 goals in 24 matches.

In acquiring Friedel, Tottenham not only upgraded goalkeeper, but now can turn their attention to a striker. Should Damiao join the club, Spurs would have a dynamic attack with Gareth Bale and the young Brazilian.

Tottenham are reportedly putting Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko up for sale.
