Ford Motor Company slammed scammers on Friday who were sending e-mails in the name of the company offering five hundred 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid cars for $15,500 each.

Unfortunately, the offer is not legitimate and the email is a hoax, the American automaker said in a statement on its website recommending that people delete the email and any attachments to it.

The 2010 Fusion hybrid car starts at $27,270.

Scammers wrote on the e-mail that due to the financial crisis, Ford had been forced to put its cars on sale to acquire capital to survive.
