Samsung launched its Galaxy S2 smartphone in Seoul, South Korea on Thursday, April 28.

The Samsung's latest Android flagship device will also launch in 120 other countries starting from early May through about 140 mobile operators worldwide.The Galaxy S2 was officially announced during MWC 2011.

According to Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung Electronics Co.'s mobile business, the new Galaxy smartphone is faster, lighter and slimmer than its predecessor Galaxy S. The device boosted the battery life by 20 percent even though the display has become bigger. The web browsing speed has also improved by 25 percent.

Samsung's goal is to increase smartphone shipments to 60 million units this year and is aiming to sell over 10 million units of the Galaxy S2 this year.

Here is the launch date for different countries.

South Korea- April 28; UK- May 1; UAE- May 2; Sweden- May 6; Denmark -May 10; Finland May 12; Norway - May 12; Russia - May 18. For othercountries it will be between May to June 2011.
