Conor McGregor is not appearing in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones.” For several months, rumors have been swirling that the UFC fighter had been cast in a small role in Euron Greyjoy’s army in Season 7. While he admits he was approached — albeit not directly — McGregor says he’s not at all interested in acting.

McGregor sat down with Good Times Network on Monday for an interview in which he was asked about the show. The Irish-born fighter revealed that he had no plans of ditching the octagon for the “Game of Thrones” set any time soon, telling the publication that the rumor spread far and wide before he ever even heard it. He found out about it after a fight, when he returned to his dressing room and was barraged by a group of people that included UFC President Dana White. The group apparently shared with McGregor that someone had requested he appear in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones.”

“I’m banged up, my shin’s in a heap, I’ve been kicking [Nate Diaz’s] knees straight for 25 minutes, my leg’s in bits, and he’s trying to offer me a ‘Game of Thrones’ role,” McGregor said (via Daily Mail). “And I’m saying, ‘Listen ... I’m not trying to be in show business, I’m trying to be in the fight business. Come at me with a real number to fight again.’”

In December 2016, White seemingly confirmed on “Fox Sports Live” (via CBS Sports) that McGregor had been cast on the show months prior. The UFC franchise president told viewers that he was “glad” the champion fighter had accepted the part. He did not, however, have any details at the time to share about who McGregor was thought to be playing. We now know that White was misinformed or intentionally trolling both UFC and “Game of Thrones” fans, as McGregor claims he is not appearing.

While White fueled speculation about McGregor’s alleged participation in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones,” it was not him who started the rumors. The Sunday Life (via Metro) first published a report about the UFC fighter appearing on the show days prior to White’s interview. They claimed that he would be appearing in either Season 7 or 8. The Sunday Life article alleged that McGregor was head hunted by one of the four men chosen to direct upcoming episodes of the series, who is a big fan of both UFC and McGregor.
