Ever since the “Game of Thrones” Season 5 finale, fans have been hotly debating the massive cliffhanger that the show left off on. With the fate of his character, Jon Snow, in question, actor Kit Harington is dropping some major hints to fans ahead of the Season 6 premiere.

[SPOILER ALERT: The remainder of this article will discuss the end of Season 5]

Fans were gasping for breath when the latest season of the hit HBO drama saw several mutinous members of the Night’s Watch, and that little jerk Olly (Brenock O’Connor), take turns stabbing Jon Snow in the chest for his sympathy for the Wildlings he rescued at Hardhome. The show is no stranger to killing off key characters in the most brutal way possible, but Snow is such a fan-beloved member of the cast and theories indicate he has a bright future that’s essential to the grander plot of the series. As a result, many fans believe that his apparent death was nothing more than some clever cliffhanger work and that the character will return as early as the first episode of Season 6.

Now, speaking to Dutch magazine Humo, the 28-year-old actor gave Jon Snow fans the most hope for his being alive yet when he revealed that he’s still under contract with HBO and will remain so for quite a while longer.

“I can’t talk about that,” he told a reporter asking how long he’s under contract (via The Independent). “Let’s just say that ‘Game of Thrones’ will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my thirties when it’s over. One thing’s for sure: the day I’m no longer on ‘Thrones’ is the day I’ll bury myself in movie projects.”

If we break down the math of Harington’s words, it means that the actor would need to be tied to the show for another two seasons. This could be possible since, according to Variety, HBO’s president Michael Lombardo revealed at the 2015 TCA press tour that the network is considering ending the show after Season 8, making a 30-year-old Harington not outside the realm of possibility. However, it would mean that his character is still alive.

This isn’t necessarily a stretch given that many fans already expect him to have survived the onslaught of stabbings he received at the end of Season 5. After all, as previously reported, the actor has been seen on the Season 6 set in Belfast, Ireland, allegedly shooting a massive battle scene. According to Vanity Fair, the battle might have something to do with the infamous Boltons finally getting what they deserve as Harington has been seen palling around the Irish city with Iwan Rheon, known to fans as the character Ramsay Bolton.
