BERLIN - German Economy Minister Rainer Bruederle has a good deal of understanding for demands for a greater contribution from the U.S.'s General Motors in the overhaul of carmaker Opel, he said on Tuesday.

German newspaper Handelsblatt had reported on Monday that German government sources wanted GM to raise its share of the reorganization costs for its European Opel arm to get state aid from Germany.
