The NFL has suspended New York Giants defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy for four games without pay for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.

No other details were provided in the NFL statement posted on the Giants' website on Tuesday.

Kennedy would be eligible to return to the Giants' roster following the team's November 13 game against the San Francisco Giants.

The 31-year-old Kennedy has been used as a reserve and has just four tackles this season, his first with the Giants after stints with Minnesota, Jacksonville, Chicago and St. Louis in his nine-year career.
