Girl Meets World Season 3
Riley (Rowan Blanchard) will continue to learn lessons from her father Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) in “Girl Meets World” Season 3. Disney Channel

Riley and the gang will be heading to high school when “Girl Meets World” Season 3 debuts Friday night. Before they begin the next chapter of their school lives, here’s what happened in the Season 2 finale, titled “Girl Meets Legacy.”

Riley (Rowan Blanchard), Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), Lucas (Peyton Meyer) and Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis) were all getting ready to say goodbye to John Quincy Adams Middle School. The gang was gearing up for high school, but wasn’t exactly ready to take that next step yet.

Cory (Ben Savage) taught his class one last time, and they told him that they didn’t think he’s given them enough lessons to advance to high school. Cory also felt he had more to teach them before they moved on, but there wasn’t enough time for him to do so. However, he also felt they learned a lot in their time at the school, and he gave them one final lesson before they left. He wanted them to leave a lasting legacy for future students to remember them by.

The class took this to heart and decided to dedicate a bench to future friendships in the hallway of the school. Before the class graduates, they played one last prank by stealing the school mascot, which just happened to be Cory.

In “Boy Meets World,” Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) followed a young Cory from middle school to high school. The same thing happens on “Girl Meets World” in the Season 2 finale. Both the students and parents helped Cory get a promotion to the high school, where he could continue to teach his class lessons. Ironically, it was Superintendent Mr. Turner (Anthony Tyler Quinn) who gave Cory his promotion.

The love triangle between Riley, Maya and Lucas was at the forefront of the episode, as the two girls avoided talking about the fact that they both have feelings for the same person. Lucas decided to keep the peace and remain friends with both of them so no one would get hurt. It’s likely this triangle will continue into Season 3.

“Girl Meets World” Season 3 premieres Friday on Disney Channel at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
