Olympic swimmer turned reality star Ryan Lochte suffered a rare moment of embarrassment on the latest episode of his hit E! reality show “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?”, when his girlfriend of four years dumped him on national television.
Lochte, 28, can be seen in the episode eating dinner with his friends when he receives a call from his long-distance girlfriend, Jaimee Holler, a 23-year-old junior sales manager from London.
As soon as the five-time gold-medalist receives the phone call, he exits the restaurant, turning his microphone off and instructing cameramen not to follow him or record the seemingly awkward moment.
While the couple both lived in separate locations and had extremely time-consuming work schedules, they vowed to make a solid effort to make the relationship work. However, it appeared in earlier episodes of the show that Jaimee was getting tired of their relationship the way it was and told Ryan they needed to step things up a gear -- or split for good.
After the difficult scene outside of the restaurant, Ryan returned and admitted to friends (and everyone watching at home) that he had been dumped.
Lochte gained national fame after his stellar performance during the 2012 Summer Olympics. Following a series of post-Olympic appearances, his exposure only got greater as he earned $2.3 million from endorsement deals with Speedo, Mutual of Omaha, Gillette, Gatorade, Procter and Gamble, Ralph Lauren, Nissan and AT&T.
In addition to being a spokesman for a slew of high-profile consumer retailers, Lochte also made guest appearances on popular television shows such as NBC’s “30 Rock” and CBS’s “90210,” before signing on for his own E! reality show.
Lochte’s schedule has undoubtedly been grueling for the young star athlete, and so it is unsurprising that Holler was having trouble keeping up.
